Ogilvie Ross is recognised as the UK’s leading provider of sustainable strategies for the management and ethical disposal of office furniture. Our aim is not only to minimise the huge amounts of office furniture that finds its way to landfill each year but also to help large organisations become more resource efficient and reduce the need to manufacture new furniture and use valuable natural resources.
Since our formation in 1999 we have assisted local councils, public bodies and other large organisations to reduce waste sent to landfill, reduce expenditure on office furniture and improve their overall environmental performance. Our work has been recognised and endorsed by leading environmental agencies and NGO’s.
In 2005 Ogilvie Ross were awarded the Scottish Waste Industry Environmental Innovation Award for the successful delivery of a resource management program for Perth & Kinross Council which reduced furniture waste by 98% and reduced furniture expenditure by over 50%.
2005 also saw Ogilvie Ross become certified to BS:ISO14001. Whilst it is not possible to achieve certification for specific one-off contracts, all our projects are run under the guidance of the ISO14001 system. Our management team includes qualified ISO14001 internal auditors who monitor all processes and ensure that they fully comply with ISO14001 requirements.
In 2007 Ogilvie Ross was asked to assist in the creation of a new social business to provide Dundee City Council with a comprehensive furniture reuse and disposal programme. The success of the project has seen the authority reduce furniture costs by over 50% and has reduced furniture waste to less than 5% of previous levels. The business now employs nine people with a long-term plan for expansion and development.
In 2008 our design and management of a large-scale ethical disposal project for the London Fire & Emergency Planning Authority was Highly Commended by Sustainable Development UK at their 2008 annual awards. The project saw the disposal of over 6,000 items of furniture with a reuse rate of over 82% and produced a financial saving of over £100,000 compared with previously used furniture recycling processes.
Based in Central Scotland, Ogilvie Ross can provide a UK wide service for ethical disposal projects through our regional offices in Warrington and London. Additionally, we have a network of partnerships across the private and social sectors enabling us to deliver furniture reuse rates in excess of 70% for the majority of our projects.
We very much hope that this website helps you to understand the work we do and the benefits we can bring. If you would like to discuss any aspect of our work click here to contact our office.
